Workshop – Art Camp Extravaganza
For Middle School Students
July 15th – 19th, 2024 1pm – 5pm PST
What will be taught:
Students will explore 5 days (20 hours total) of comprehensive art education covering a wide array of skills and techniques on the NCAD Campus.
- Drawing Foundations
- Painting
- Cartooning
- Flip Book Animation
- Graphic Novel
Art Camp Extravaganza will include full instruction and materials.
Instructor – Susan Ogilvie
Bio – Susan Ogilvie who has 12 years of secondary education and college level teaching. She is an illustrator, painter, and former Director of Education for NCAD. She holds a BFA in Fine Art, a Master’s Degree in Illustration as well as an MA in Art History. Her particular interests are in children’s book illustration and animation.
Participants will receive:
- Sketchbook
- Drawing Pencil
- Eraser
- NCAD Backpack
- Mascot Sticker and NCAD Pen
Workshop Fee = $150 per student for the week (limited to 24 students) Early bird sign up deadline June 10th for a 10% savings.

Workshop – Personas
August 16th, 2024 8am – 12pm PST
What will be taught:
We will teach how to create user personas for companies and groups to have a personal standpoint for their decision making.
Instructor – Lisa Garel
Bio – With over a decade of management and coaching expertise, I’ve nurtured talent at leading companies like Zillow, Lulumon, and Estes Lauder. Crafting UX career matrices and drawing from 15 years of industry experience, I’ve added career transitions and honed my skills as an instructor at NCAD. As the lead curriculum developer for AOS in UX at NCAD, I’ve played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of UX professionals. My diverse educational background in marketing, design, and research informs my design choices, while my adeptness in stakeholder management and hiring practices ensures collaborative success.
Workshop Fee = $75.00
Materials needed:
No personal materials needed other than a pen or pencil and a laptop.

Workshop – Design Jam
August 23rd, 2024 8am – 5pm PST
What will be taught:
During the session, we will go through an entire design jam process, from determining the user problem that needs to be solved, to creating wireframes. Steps included will be:
- Context setting and user problem discussion
- How Might We statements
- Sticky note ideation and voting
- Crazy 8’s
- Wireframe creation
- Scrappy user testing
